At Xenia Creative Retreat

Francisca Prieto is in residence at Xenia Creative Retreat in the British countryside for three weeks.

Set within a quiet rural British landscape, the residency provides a sought after period of reflection and focused studio work following a particularly active beginning to the year, including recent exhibitions in London.

The change of environment and context offers valuable time for observation, experimentation and research, allowing Prieto to reflect on her practice and develop projects currently underway.

Prieto works with rare publications, fragments of historical material and collected objects drawn from her own archive, combining them with metal structures. Through considered methodologies she documents the traces of humanity embedded within these fragments while constructing new layers of meaning.

The residency offers a valuable period of research and experimentation within her practice, allowing ideas and materials to evolve and inform future bodies of work.
