Juxtaposition I

Juxtaposition I and II reflect on the idea that one’s persona subtly changes when immersed in two distinct cultural environments. Made with ticket stubs – or ‘half-tickets’ – preserved rather than discarded, they symbolise the fragmented experiences that together form a cohesive narrative.

The tickets share a similar colour palette throughout each work, unified as one person, though their tones shift across the contrasting halves of the background, representing how identity subtly changes across different places. The visual and physical separation between the two halves is stark, with the vibrancy of bright and bold colour juxtaposing the cooler quieter tones. Despite this division, the tickets – through their colour, format and alignment – bridge the gap; they embody the constant of an individual in two coexistent worlds.
