As maps trace vast expanses of land to be explored, Francisca carries this intrigue further by combining many maps to form one. Altering our spatial context, this map invites us to read into the many ways we have of documenting the land that grounds us. We are offered an orientation of a different kind; the ‘N’ of North emerges from the deep in watery blues, while the varying veins of coloured maps lead into one another – from topographical and geographical to political. Guided by the marbled texture of road lines, this map magically unfolds before us, exposing a landscape that oscillates with the diversity of the different faces of the world.
