The Antiposter: Antipoems

Poster: 60 x 130 cm (unframed)
Icosahedron: 15 x 17 x 19 cm
2002

The Antiposter is an evolution of the Antibook, which challenged our idea of what a book should be. The Antiposter does the same for the poster, surely one of the oldest means of communication. As a flat page the Antiposter is seemingly meaningless, a cryptic slicing of letters and tracing of gridlines. When carefully assembled these pieces of type form a message that is bold and imposing, fuelled with the impact of their meticulous process of modular origami. In showing us the geometric plan – in the form of the ordinary poster – Francisca confronts our expectations and counters them with the three-dimensional logic of the Antiposter, whose space and weight strengthens the message when formed.
